Almaty hosts 17th Eurasia International Film Festival

Almaty hosts the 17th Eurasia International Film Festival, which is dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Shaken Aimanov, the outstanding figure of Kazakh cinema, and the 90th anniversary of the creation of the Kazakhfilm studio. The event brought together participants from over 15 countries. The festival will showcase 12 films reflecting the culture and outlook on life of representatives of different countries, from Bangladesh and South Korea to Austria and Qatar. Creative teams from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East have demonstrated projects that combine universal themes with local contexts. The festival includes two programs – an international competition and a competition between Central Asian countries and the Turkic world. There will also be non-competition screenings and film premieres, as well as master classes and business platforms.

«This year’s program is extensive, featuring various locations and films from multiple genres and an exciting selection of Kazakh cinema. As the festival makes a comeback after a hiatus, we are committed to reviving and restoring its former glory,» said Diana Ashimova, program director of the 17th Eurasia International Film Festival.
