The Biken Rimova
Drama Theater in Taldykorgan performed on a tour in Astana, where they
presented two plays to the city’s residents and visitors. Among them was the premiere
of the theatrical production entitled ‘The Teacher’ by young playwright
Kolganat Murat. The social drama strives to elevate the status of educators and
delves into the complex relationship between a teacher and a student. The
second production presented to theater enthusiasts was ‘The Sorrow of a
Mother’, based on the script by Biken Rimova. The play touches on the issue of
loneliness among elderly people. It bears noting that this year’s theater tour
is taking place in commemoration of the 100th birth anniversary of People’s
Artist of Kazakhstan Biken Rimova. Her centenary is widely celebrated within
the TURKSOY. By the end of the year, with the support of the International
Organization of Turkic Culture, a traveling exhibition dedicated to the life
and work of the prominent actress is planned to be organized in Ankara and
Istanbul. Additionally, Kazakhstan will host the first international theatre
competition in her honour.
“The international
festival will be held from September 29 to October 4 in the Zhetisu region,
with the support of the local authorities and TURKSOY. Within the competition,
six domestic theatres and those from abroad will demonstrate their artistic
talents. These creative ensembles will come from countries such as Azerbaijan,
Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, and they intend to delight the guests of the
festival,” Yerlik Zhuasbek, Director of the Biken Rimova Taldykorgan Drama
Theater, said.
