Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev attended the opening ceremony of an airbase of the National Guard in
Astana. As the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Kazakhstan’s Armed Forces, the
Head of State expressed his congratulations to the event participants on the
upcoming Defender of the Fatherland Day, noting that the Kazakh Armed Forces
are a reliable shield of the sovereign country's interests, an unwavering
pillar of peace and stability. He stressed that this holiday awakens patriotism
and boosts morale.
“The inauguration of the aviation
base is a landmark event not only for the National Guard but also for the
entire army. It will greatly enhance the capabilities of law enforcement
agencies and provide opportunities for rapid air missions. The government is
giving utmost attention to equipping the Armed Forces and developing military
infrastructure,” said the Head of State.
President Tokayev underscored the
professionalism of Kazakh military personnel, who successfully participate in
various international missions under the UN auspices. This year, for the first
time, they have begun independently carrying out tasks in the Golan Heights. Besides,
the servicemen demonstrated a vivid example of loyalty to their oath during the
unprecedented floods, both in combating the elements and assisting the people
of Kazakhstan.
“I would like to emphasize the
professionalism and exceptional skill of our military pilots. They delivered
humanitarian aid to the affected areas promptly and without any losses and
ensured the evacuation of citizens to safe locations. I am sincerely grateful
to all servicemen, who stood with the people during challenging times,” added
President Tokayev.
The Head of State also
familiarized himself with samples of new aviation, combat, and special
equipment. He inspected a number of infrastructural facilities of the airbase,
where all necessary conditions have been created to fulfill the relevant combat
tasks. The proximity of the airbase to Astana airport will enable the timely
delivery of personnel and equipment, as well as provide aviation support to the
National Guard units for conducting aerial reconnaissance and evacuating the
injured.
