Over 315,000
children in Kazakhstan have already been enrolled in the first grade.
The largest number of applications were submitted to general education schools of Shymkent, East Kazakhstan and West Kazakhstan regions. According to preliminary estimates from the Kazakh Ministry of Education, a total of 410,000 children will begin their schooling journey and enter classrooms for the first time in the upcoming academic year. The highest number of first-graders, namely over 51,500 children, is expected in the Turkistan region, around 29,000 in the city of Almaty, and about 27,000 in Shymkent.
“According to the law on education, children are admitted to the first grade from the age of six. To enroll a child in the first grade, parents are required to attach medical certificates and two photographs measuring 4 by 3 cm to the application,” said Gulmira Kulsariyeva, spokesperson for the Kazakh Ministry of Education.
It is worth
reminding that the acceptance of applications for enrollment to the first grade
began in the country on April 1 and will conclude on August 1. Documents are
accepted from Monday to Friday, excluding weekends and public holidays. The
educational public service is available on the e-government web portal and the
information systems of local executive bodies. It should be noted that in the
upcoming school year, first-graders will have the opportunity to attend 100
newly built educational organizations across the country.
