A total of 38 new promising deposits were discovered in
Kazakhstan in 2024. Geological surveys covered 74% of the country’s total area,
which amounts to more than two million square kilometers. By 2026, this figure
is expected to reach 2.2 million square kilometers. Currently, over 8,000
deposits are listed on the state balance sheet, with more than 300 discovered over
the past three decades. Domestic geologists have identified 15 sedimentary
basins, the largest of which is the Caspian basin, accounting for about 80% of
the country’s resource base. The country has the potential to further develop
these resources and attract investment into the sector. In honor of the
professional holiday of geologists, a new honorary title, ‘Honored Geologist of
Kazakhstan,’ has been established. The best specialists in the field were
awarded this title, as well as the orders of Kurmet, Yenbek Danky III degree,
and the ‘Yeren yenbegi ushin’ medal.
