Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev held a meeting with Vice Premier of the State Council of China Liu
Guozhong in the Akorda Presidential Palace. The parties discussed prospects for
the development of the Kazakh-Chinese strategic partnership, as well as the
progress in implementing agreements reached between the leaders of the two
countries, President Tokayev and Chinese President Xi Jinping. China has been
and remains Kazakhstan’s reliable partner, and bringing bilateral relations to
a new level is a top priority for the country, according to the Head of State.
Liu Guozhong also noted the positive dynamics of bilateral cooperation.
“China stands as Kazakhstan’s
foremost trade and economic partner, holding the top position in bilateral
trade volume, which reached a record $40 billion last year. Our current goal is
to elevate this figure to $100 billion, which is achievable,” said President
Tokayev.
“China highly values the
significant contribution you have made to the development of Chinese-Kazakh
relations over the years as a long-standing and dear friend of our people. I am
confident that your leadership will advance the country in developing the state
and building a powerful and prosperous New Kazakhstan,” Liu Guozhong said.
