Ensuring transparency, openness, and strict adherence to voting procedures is receiving special attention in Kazakhstan as the country prepares for the referendum. The participation of international observers plays an important role in this process. These include international experts and analysts who already have similar experience. A total of 359 observers from 38 countries and 11 international organizations have been accredited for the current campaign in Kazakhstan. According to them, the draft new Constitution has significant potential and addresses the modern needs of society.
«So, I’ve been an election observer in Kazakhstan before, but also in multiple countries all over the world: in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America but also here in Eurasia. What I look for when I check any type of election is what's motivating people who show up to vote. What is motivating people who participate in the structure of the elections, such as people running the polls and people watching the votes, etc,» noted Wesley Alexander Hill, international observer, the U.S.
«It’s the culmination of a
long process to make the institutions of Kazakhstan more resilient. Participation
rate is very important and the population feels that they're part of something.
So, participation rate, and especially young people, women we want to see all
sectors of the population, including people with disabilities. So, it has to be
an inclusive process,» said Alberto
Turkstra, international observer, Belgium.
