A permanent representative office of the U.S. International Development
Finance Corporation (DFC) may open in Kazakhstan. This was discussed at Akorda,
where President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received DFC Chief Executive Officer Ben
Black. The Head of State noted that the visit builds on the Washington
agreements and marks an important step toward deepening multifaceted
cooperation with the United States. Tokayev emphasized that under President
Donald Trump’s administration, engagement between Washington, Astana, and the
wider Central Asian region has significantly intensified and is now stronger
than ever. He also noted that DFC’s investment priorities closely align with
Kazakhstan’s development agenda and reaffirmed the country’s readiness for the
practical implementation of projects. For his part, Black highlighted the
productive nature of his meetings with representatives of Kazakhstan’s business
community. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in critical
minerals, transport connectivity, agriculture, and artificial intelligence.
