Kazakhstan has developed a roadmap for the development of
children's and youth tourism through 2029, aimed at organizing recreation,
leisure, and activities for children. The plan outlines around 30 initiatives
across seven key areas. Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerzhan Yerkinbayev
announced this at a government meeting. He also spoke about the Kids Go Free
initiative, which allows children to fly within Kazakhstan free of charge.
Since its launch, over 5,600 children have used the program, with another 3,000
expected to benefit this year. The ministry also plans to expand the list of
individuals authorized to accompany children on flights.
«We are currently making the necessary legislative
amendments under the Kids Go Free program to allow children to fly not only
with their parents or close relatives, but also with class leaders, group
supervisors, and teachers. This year, the program aims to benefit 3,000
children,» Yerkinbayev said.
This year, more than 3.2 million children are expected to
participate in summer recreation programs. A total of 191 countryside camps
will operate for schoolchildren, along with over 10,000 school-based, tent, and
yurt camps. Additionally, with support from the Qazaqstan Halqyna Fund, 10,000
minors will have the opportunity to enjoy free vacations through the Zhazdyk
Zholdama project. Priority will be given to children from socially vulnerable
groups, large families, and rural households.
«The Ministry of Tourism should coordinate interregional
cooperation among local administrations to enable children to visit historical
and cultural heritage sites, as well as popular tourist destinations. Children
from the western region will be interested in exploring the eastern part of the
country, while those from the south could visit the north, and vice versa.
Children should experience the full natural and cultural diversity of their
homeland. The Ministry of Culture should also ensure free access for children
to museums, theatres, nature reserves, and national parks during the holidays,»
said Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
