1,200 schoolchildren participate in Daryn FIRST Championship robotics fest

Future engineers, programmers, and inventors showcased their knowledge and skills in the Almaty region at the regional robotics championship. The event brought together over 1,200 participants aged 4 to 18. They demonstrated their talents by solving challenges on the theme of the underwater world. The participants not only developed innovative technologies for exploring oceans but also sought ways to preserve ecosystems. One of them is Yermek Daurenbay from Turkistan.

«We also designed an underwater area with seaweed, which is collected by a 3D robot model,» shared participant Yermek Daurenbay.

Many new projects were showcased at the competition, including an eco-station designed to prevent oil spills in water bodies. According to the organizers, interest among young Kazakh students in robotics and programming is growing every year.

«After studying the underwater world, the children were tasked with finding an engineering solution, which they then had to present to the judges. Additionally, each team creates its own robot based on artificial intelligence, designed to perform various missions,» said Assylbek Murzakhmetov, head coach of Kazakhstan’s robotics team.

Similar regional robotics competitions will be held in Aktau, Shymkent, and Astana. The best teams will earn quotas to participate in the Central Asian championship, which will bring together 3,000 schoolchildren. The winners of that event will head to Houston, U.S., to compete in the international competition.
