The VIII International Theater Festival of Central Asian Countries is taking place in Almaty city. This year the traditional event is dedicated to the 125th birth anniversary of the great Kazakh writer Mukhtar Auezov. Theater troupes participating in the festival represent Kazakhstan, Tatarstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan. The host country will present to the audience four performances, including the well-known drama ‘Blood and Sweat’ staged by Auezov Theatre. Aside from that, visitors can get acquainted with the exhibition entitled ‘Kazakh Stage Designers’. The festival will run until November 7.
“The festival is a large-scale event, presenting various programs. One of them is called SHOWCASE. That is, not only state and national theaters are participating in the festival, but also private ones. We invited theater producers from 10 different countries and they accepted the invitation,” Yerkin Zhuasbek, Director of the Kazakh National Drama Theater, said.
