The potential for cooperation between Kazakhstan and the
United Arab Emirates (UAE) was discussed at a business forum in Astana.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh
Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, attended the closing ceremony. The Head
of State noted that during talks with Sheikh Khaled, both sides reaffirmed
their commitment to deepening trade, economic, and investment ties. Agreements
worth $5 billion, signed during the forum, are expected to support this effort.
«United Arab Emirates is Kazakhstan’s leading trade and
investment partner in the Gulf region with total investments surpassing $4.3 billion.
As the UAE’s vision 2031 aligns closely with our national priorities for
innovation, industrial growth, and diversification, we are committed to
offering a favorable environment for all your business, which is going to be
fully represented here on our market,» Tokayev said.
Kazakhstan is currently enhancing its investment
attractiveness. To this end, the country is implementing economic reforms in
line with international standards and OECD principles. Additionally, the
Investment Promotion Council has been established to support foreign
businesses, including those from the UAE.
«Looking ahead, we see immense potential to expand
cooperation in a wide range of sectors—energy, logistics, finance, smart
technologies, agriculture, and even more. Several landmark projects underscore
the strength and momentum of our dynamic partnership. Today, we implement
projects with Masdar, Presight, Abu Dhabi Ports Group, Terminal Holdings, and
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. These and other projects reflect the depth,
effectiveness, and accelerating progress of our bilateral relations,» Tokayev
added.
During the business forum, nine documents were signed,
including agreements on investments in the construction of a plant, a data
center, and a terminal at the Kuryk port. Additionally, President Tokayev and
Sheikh Khaled visited the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), where
they were briefed on the achievements and activities of the Astana Financial
Services Authority, the Astana International Exchange, the AIFC Court, and the
International Arbitration Centre. Notably, 46 Arab companies are currently
residents of the financial center. The two leaders also visited the Sheikh
Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan School-Lyceum, where students showcased their
knowledge of Arabic language and literature and presented an exhibition on the
cooperation between the two countries. Later, they toured another
exhibition—«Ethnoauyl,» which highlights the centuries-old cultural heritage of
the Kazakh people.
