Turkmenistan is increasing its tomato exports and expanding
the geographic reach of its deliveries. The agricultural enterprise exports its
products to the markets of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Afghanistan,
Tajikistan, Russia, Belarus, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and recently,
Hungary. The total export volume exceeds 24,000 tonnes. More than 40 tomato
varieties are tested annually, and only after a two-year evaluation—ensuring
high quality and demand—are they introduced to foreign markets.
«We have specialized testing tools, such as scales to
measure tomato size, devices to check their sweetness and temperature, and
chips for automatic air and temperature control in vehicles transporting
exports abroad,» said quality control specialist Shykhmyrat Palvanov.
The greenhouse complex uses both advanced technologies and
biological cultivation methods. A fully automated system creates all the
conditions for plant growth, while special bees pollinate the tomatoes,
resulting in sweeter and higher-quality produce.
«Our annual capacity is 66,000 tonnes, with Russia and
Kazakhstan as our main customers. Our greenhouse was the first in Turkmenistan
to receive the GLOBALG.A.P. certification, opening up excellent opportunities
for cooperation with European countries,» said Sokhbet Niyazov, deputy director
of economic and public enterprise.
