Turkistan is a spiritual and cultural center of the Turkic world. The sacred city with a long history, the former capital of the Kazakh Khanate, the life artery of the Great Silk Road connecting Europe and Asia regains its status again. Turkistan remains a place of colossal attraction. A huge work has been done over the years of Independence. Turkistan region was formed in 2018, and this historical city became its center. Turkistan flourishes and upgrades, but does not lose its identity. The center with more than 1,500 years of history attracts tourists from all over the world. The status of the spiritual capital of the Turkic world opens up new opportunities for the development, experts said.
“An informal summit that took place in March this year brought the Turkic-speaking countries to a fundamentally new level of interaction. As you know, following the results of the summit, the Turkistan declaration was adopted to open up new opportunities for the countries of the Turkic world. The last summit of the Turkic Council opens a new page of the development of the Turkic-speaking countries. They are associated, first of all, with the further development of cultural, humanitarian, economic cooperation of the Turkic countries. Today we have a historic chance to reach new frontiers, but we have to rethink our past for this. Why? Because those who do not remember history have no prospects for the future,” said Bakytzhan Temirbolat, Director of the Library of the First President of Kazakhstan.
“Turkistan has recently been announced the spiritual capital of the Turkic world. We used to say that the sacred city occupies its place in Kazakhstan’s history, and now Turkistan is becoming the spiritual capital of the entire Turkic world. Of course, it is a merit of the country’s First President Nursultan Nazarbayev. Also, during the summit, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to increase the spiritual, cultural, economic and social potential of Turkistan. We expect that our meeting will serve the clear implementation of the tasks of the summit and the popularization of Turkistan, its place in the Turkic world,” added Darkhan Kydyrali, President of the International Turkic Academy.
