Transport volumes along the
Trans-Caspian Transport Route have increased sixfold over the past five years,
reinforcing the corridor’s role as a key link in Eurasian logistics. Last year,
traffic on the route grew by more than 60%, reaching 4.5 million tonnes.
Kazakhstan plans to double this figure within the next three years through
digitalization, port expansion, and the construction of new cargo terminals. At
the same time, the country is modernizing its road and railway infrastructure,
while the aviation sector continues to expand. New passenger terminals have
been commissioned in Shymkent, Kyzylorda, and Almaty, where capacity has risen
nearly sixfold, from 2.5 million to 14 million passengers a year. In Shymkent,
capacity has reached 6 million. In addition, six aviation hubs have been
designated for development, with investment to follow.
«At
the instruction of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kazakhstan is implementing
major infrastructure projects to boost the country’s transport and logistics
potential. Multimodal routes are also expanding rapidly, including the
Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, which links Kazakhstan with Europe via the
Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. To support this, the Aktau and Kuryk
ports are being modernized. The road network is also a priority: this year,
more than 13,000 kilometers of roads have undergone construction and repair,
including 7,000 kilometers of extensive medium repairs,» noted Kazakh Vice Minister of Transport Maksat
Kaliakparov.
