Mutual trade between Kazakhstan and the EAEU countries has reached US$10 billion over five months of this year, increasing by almost five percent compared to the same period in 2021, the press service of the country’s Ministry of Trade and Integration reported. Meanwhile, on the contrary, sales from Kazakhstan to the EAEU countries over the same period have reduced. In percentage terms, the decrease was slightly less than one, while in monetary terms it amounted to almost US$3 billion. The drop in sales was caused by a decline in shipment of such goods as iron ores and concentrates, flat-rolled products of non-alloy steel and other materials, the ministry said. The export of non-oil products to the EAEU countries, on the opposite, shows a steady growth, experts noted.
“Mutual trade of non-oil products between Kazakhstan and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union amounted to US$8 billion from January to May of this year, which is six percent more than in the same period of last year. Exports also increased by 13 percent, totaling US$2 billion. The growth in exports is caused by an increase in the supply of such goods as aluminum oxides and hydroxides, raw zinc, uranium, as well as other products,” Alisher Omirzak, official representative of the Kazakh Ministry of Trade and Integration, said.
