German direct investments in
Kazakhstan reached a record $770 million last year, marking a 64 percent
increase. The prospects for deepening economic cooperation between the two
countries and the growing interest of German businesses in projects in the country
were discussed during a meeting between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Cathrina
Claas-Muehlhaeuser, Chairwoman of the Board of the Eastern Committee of the
German Economy, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of the CLAAS Group. As
noted by the Head of State, Germany is Kazakhstan’s strategic partner in the
European Union. The meeting also focused on cooperation in the agricultural
sector. President Tokayev reminded about his proposal to establish a regional
center for sustainable agriculture. It will contribute to a more comprehensive
utilization of the country’s agricultural potential, the introduction of
innovative technologies, and their commercialization.
