Studies commence at Astana branch of Beijing Language and Culture University

The first students at the Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) branch in Astana has begun their studies, marking a new stage in the development of humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and China. One hundred young Kazakh students will train to become translators and Chinese language teachers, learning from top Chinese instructors through double-degree programs from both countries. They will also have access to all BLCU’s educational resources and proven teaching methods, ensuring academic mobility. The branch, which opened in Astana this summer during a ceremony attended by both countries’ leaders, is the third BLCU branch globally. University representatives emphasize the branch’s importance, highlighting the strong ties between the two countries.

«BLCU has three branch campuses in Bangkok, Tokyo, and Astana. We are confident that the BLCU branch in Kazakhstan will strengthen relations between the two countries not only in education and science but also in areas such as economics and culture. President Tokayev also studied at this university and has repeatedly demonstrated his excellent command of Chinese, impressing millions of Chinese people. I believe that his personal story serves as an inspiration for current students, showing them new horizons. We hope they will embrace the cultures of both Kazakhstan and China during their studies,» noted Zhang Baojun, Vice President of the Beijing Language and Culture University.
