Students in Shymkent develop innovative yurt

Domestic students have created an innovative yurt that blends Kazakh traditions with modern technology. It is specifically adapted to withstand extreme conditions and ensure safety. The yurt can be easily assembled and disassembled, making it highly versatile. Most importantly, it is resistant to unexpected natural phenomena. Despite its lightweight frame, the yurt is highly durable, and its exterior is covered with thick felt. The creators emphasize that this yurt is suitable for use in emergency zones.

«In its unfolded form, it has a diameter of four meters, while in its folded state, it is only two meters. When opened, it can house three to four people, but in extreme conditions, the electricity will be enough for up to eight people,» explained student Nazar Kozhakhmetov.

The innovative modular dwelling will have a total area of 14 square meters. However, the most important feature is that the yurt is completely autonomous. It not only generates its own electricity but also provides heat and water using renewable energy sources. A floor heating system ensures warmth, while solar panels charge batteries storing energy.

«We obtain energy through solar panels and store it in a battery. The wind turbine is our alternative source: if there is no sun but strong wind, the system continues to operate,» said another student Bakdaulet Orynbassarov.

The project authors – students of Uzbekali Zhanibekov South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University – plan to improve the mobile yurt and test it in real conditions after making all the improvements.
