The vaudeville "The Seagull" based on Chekhov’s play of the Kazakh Academic Korean Theater made a splash in Seoul. The creative troupes of the two countries worked on the performance. The play production was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and South Korea, as well as the 90th anniversary of the Almaty Korean theater.
“A dynamic performance combines traditional and modern vision. Chekhov's classic play ‘The Seagull’ combined with theatrical scenery creates a wonderful dynamic work. The idea of classical interpretation is the same. But with a modern approach, it was possible to give impressions to the audience,” shared Lee Ja Hyun, spokesperson for the Korean Foreign Affairs Ministry.
“It was the first time when the audience welcomed our theater so warmly, although we have performed here before. And that was the first time when we we performed in Russian. The audience was amazed at how Korean people speak well Russian. We always try to explain that our country is multinational, and that we speak several languages,” added Elena Kim, Director of the State National Academic Korean Theater of Music Comedy.
In addition, Kazakh actors will take part in Komanaru International Theatre Festival. It will be held from July 2 to July 10 in Gongju.
