Celebrate Eid al-Adha only with close family members, do not attend mass events and minimize all contacts - the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan gave recommendations to citizens on how to spend the Islamic holiday. According to Naib Imam of the Hazrat Sultan Mosque Bakytzhan Otkelbayev, this year, like last year, the pandemic dictates new rules. So, for example, it’s already the second year as Kazakh residents can perform the sacrificial rite online. Volunteers will fully distribute sacrificial meat to those in need. Religious officials note that Eid al-Adha is of great importance for the Muslims of the country, but in the current situation, the most important thing is the safety and health of the population.
“Eid al-Adha is an important holiday, but now we want to remind our compatriots that during a pandemic it is highly risky to travel or go to crowded places. We encourage residents to stay at home and limit their contacts. I advise them to celebrate this holiday with their close relatives. Now it is possible to congratulate everyone online on social media. Also, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan has created videos containing advice from Imams on the celebration of this holiday,” said Bakytzhan Otkelbayev, Naib Imam of Hazrat Sultan Mosque.
