A historic launch of the Soyuz-5/Sunkar vehicle took
place from the Baiterek launch complex at the Baikonur Cosmodrome as part of
flight development tests. The rocket’s first and second stages operated
normally, and the mass-dimensional mock-up was successfully placed on its
designed trajectory. The launch confirmed the full operational readiness of the
engineering facility to expand Kazakhstan’s presence in the global space
services market. The project is considered a strategically important step for
the country, facilitating a transition to the use of its own modern launch
infrastructure. According to the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and
Digital Development, large-scale modernization of ground facilities has been
carried out as part of the project, including launch systems, control, fueling,
and security.
«This is an event we have been working toward for a long time, with the support of the Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia, as well as the governments of both countries. All of this has been made possible through strategic and technological partnership and, most importantly, mutual trust. We believe this achievement will serve as a new platform for further large-scale projects,» noted Baubek Oralmagambetov, Chairman of the Aerospace Committee, Kazakh Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development.
«Today marks a truly landmark event. This is an
interstate project. Our colleagues from Kazakhstan have now joined the club of
spacefaring nations, and we congratulate them on this achievement. We will
continue to develop this project, working to enhance the rocket’s performance
and maximize the amount of payloads it can deliver into orbit,» said Dmitry Bakanov, General Director, Roscosmos State
Corporation.
