Shymkent’s economy attracts 859 billion tenge in investments

The gross regional product of Shymkent grew by 11% last year, surpassing 5.5 trillion tenge. In terms of economic growth, the city ranked second among all regions of the country. Shymkent Mayor Gabit Syzdykbekov briefed President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the city’s development. Last year, the city’s economy attracted more than 859 billion tenge in investments. Over the past three years, 50 industrial projects worth 170 billion tenge have been implemented. The number of entrepreneurs in Shymkent has also increased, with their contribution now accounting for more than half of the city’s economy. Overall, growth was recorded in industry, construction, trade, and transport. The Head of State issued a series of directives for the city’s further development.
