A symposium commemorating the
100th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s first Minister of Defense, Army General
Sagadat Nurmagambetov, was held in Astana at the National Military-Patriotic
Center of the country’s Armed Forces. The event brought together active
military personnel, veterans of the Armed Forces, cadets from military
educational institutions, and representatives of the relevant ministry to honor
the Hero of the Soviet Union and Halyk Kaharmany. The legacy of Sagadat
Nurmagambetov who dedicated over 50 years to military service is eternally
inscribed in golden letters in the country’s history, the organizers note. The
military-patriotic center hosted a special exhibition and a presentation of a
book about him, featuring unique archival data and previously unpublished
documents.
“These are letters from the
Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in Podolsk,
addressed to Sagadat Nurmagambetov, his response letters, as well as exclusive
documents and photographs. There are also decrees by Nurmagambetov and
documents signed by him. The book was published with the joint participation of
veterans of the Armed Forces and the Center for Military Strategic Research,” said
Marat Nagumanov, Deputy Chairperson of the Veterans of the Armed Forces of
Kazakhstan public association.
The country widely celebrates the
100th birth anniversary of Sagadat Nurmagambetov. Thus, a military TV series
has been produced in memory of the Hero of the Soviet Union. A monument and a
park will be unveiled in his hometown of Akkol next week. Also, an
international military-patriotic youth gathering will be held in the country
this summer.
