Firefighters in the North Kazakhstan region will now be
assisted by a firefighting robot. Engineers from a local plant have developed
and donated the smart device to emergency responders — a first-of-its-kind in
Kazakhstan. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the robot is
designed to operate in hazardous and hard-to-reach areas, where there’s a risk
of explosions, collapses, and extreme heat. Remotely operated, the robot moves
at a speed of up to one meter per second. Its water system can extinguish fires
from a distance of up to 65 meters, and its tracked design allows it to
navigate rubble, stairs, and other obstacles with ease. It can operate
autonomously for up to eight hours. Rescuers have already tested the machine in
real emergency scenarios.
«In cases of explosion risk or fires at hazardous industrial
sites and flammable liquid storage facilities, we will deploy this robot. It’s
a solid machine, fully equipped with everything we need,» said Adil Spayen, Deputy
Head of the Directorate, Department of Emergency Situations, North Kazakhstan
Region.
