Remains of Kazakh WWII warriors returned home

The remains of three soldiers who lost their lives in battles during World War II have been returned to Kazakhstan. Silan Mametov from the Kyzylorda region, Kissym Adiyev from the Atyrau region, and Kadirbek Dauletkulov from the Zhambyl region were brought back by a special flight from Russia. Their identities were determined by medallions. Now, the heroes will be laid to rest in their homeland as they have been handed over to their families today. In total, the remains of 19 Kazakh soldiers were found jointly with Russian search teams.

“The state pays enormous attention to this matter. There are cases when we cannot identify the relatives and loved ones. These four soldiers were buried with the help of local authorities of the territorial regions. That is, the state was in charge of the funerals, their official part,” said Murat Moldagaliyev, Chairperson of the Atamnyn Amanaty public association.

Kadirbek Dauletkulov served in the border troops and was listed as missing in action. Thanks to the efforts of search teams, it has been revealed that he perished in one of the bloodiest combats, that is the Battle of Kursk in 1943.

“Our grandmother learned that the remains of my grandfather’s brother were found a month ago. She knew it from the ‘Atamnyn Amanaty’ public organization. He went to the frontline in 1941. Our relatives used to tell me that my grandfather’s brother didn’t get married, and he had no children, but I am his descendant,” said Yernur Nametkul, Kadirbek Dauletkulov’s great-grandson.
