Kazakh coin receives international award

A coin in honor of Mukhtar Auezov’s 125th anniversary received an international award. This year, it has won third place at the 17th coins competition ‘Coin Constellation’. In general, 23 participants from 18 countries presented coins issued last year. The winners in nine nominations were determined by a professional jury, including experts from the largest museums, auction houses, numismatic associations and specialized publications. It should be noted that coins of the National Banks of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan, which won in other nominations, were minted by the Kazakhstan Mint of the National Bank.

“This nomination includes coins that have not been minted using any of the latest technologies, various colors, gilding, inserts of diamonds or other stones. A coin must be made according to all the rules of medal art. In fact, the coin to mark the anniversary of Mukhtar Auezov was made using this technology. The reverse side of the coin depicts two symbols, a writer’s feather and signature, which characterize Auezov’s status as a classic of Kazakh literature,” said Almat Bassenov, the chief designer of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
