A search team from Russia handed over the remains of a Kazakh warrior who died during the Second World War. A solemn ceremony took place on the border of the two countries. The ashes of the Kazakh soldier Yembergen Assainov were sent to Kyzylorda region, his homeland. The search team “Maidan Zholy” managed to collect all the information about the dead Red Army soldier. However, it is not much of it, because there is no archival data at places of both call-up and military service. Presumably, the Kazakh soldier died in the battle for Leningrad.
“We found relatives in Aral district of Kyzylorda region. His grandson is alive. They were very happy, but we could not send the remains to the homeland for a long time due to the pandemic. The soldier was born in 1900 and served in the 327th infantry division that was instructed to liberate the Sinyavino Heights. They participated in many offensives and managed to do this only in 1944. Unfortunately, Yembergen Assainov did not live to see this. He died in August 1943,” said Alexander Shitov, Commander, “Maidan Zholy” Search Squad.
