Kazakhstan has introduced a ban on the exports of certain types of timber. According to the order of Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development, the export of fuel and raw wood will be prohibited in the next six months. The order does not apply to tram and railway sleepers. The ban is imposed in order to prevent illegal re-export, as well as to support the domestic timber industry.
