Qatar set to build hydroelectric power plant in Kazakhstan

Qatar is set to build a new hydroelectric power plant in Kazakhstan, particularly, on the Irtysh River, with a capacity of up to 350 megawatts. According to the Samruk Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund, the Kazakh side has discussed the construction of the facility with Qatar’s largest energy and investment company. Preliminary technical and economic feasibility studies for the project are currently underway, with the intention to complete this work by September. The preliminary cost of the project will also be determined.
