Presidents of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan hold negotiations

Today marks the beginning of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to Tajikistan. The Head of State was welcomed by President Emomali Rahmon at Dushanbe International Airport. Here, the host country organized a concert featuring Tajik dancers, who also performed a Kazakh dance to the famous «Adai» kui by Kurmangazy.

The official welcoming ceremony continued at the Qasri Millat Palace with a 21-gun salute. After the national anthems of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan were played, the two leaders introduced the members of their official delegations. During narrow-format talks, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in trade, economy, transit, transportation, energy, as well as cultural and humanitarian spheres. They also covered partnership in the fields of digitalization, agriculture, and water resources.

«Relations between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are positively developing across nearly all areas. The two states are reliable allies, and we appreciate Tajikistan’s attitude towards Kazakhstan. However, we cannot stop halfway but must continue to advance. Thus, this visit aims to provide a significant impetus to the development of our cooperation. Today, a Treaty on Allied Relations will be signed, which holds historical significance,» Tokayev said.

«It is a great pleasure to welcome you in Tajikistan. I am confident that this state visit will give a new impetus to our relations. Today, they are developing dynamically in the political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, and security spheres,» Rahmon noted.
