President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a telephone
conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who expressed gratitude
for Kazakhstan’s prompt search and rescue operations and assistance to the
victims of the plane crash near Aktau. The two presidents exchanged condolences
and offered support to the victims’ families and loved ones. Tokayev assured
Aliyev that Kazakhstan would make every effort to thoroughly and objectively
investigate all circumstances of the crash. He discussed the progress of this
investigation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Both leaders shared their
condolences regarding the tragic deaths of Kazakh and Russian citizens. Tokayev
emphasized that the Government Commission is continuing the investigation,
which includes specialists from Azerbaijan, Russia, and Brazil. He also
convened a meeting to address the impact of the plane crash and commended the
coherence and efficiency of the emergency services involved.
«Our citizens extended a helping hand to the victims from
the very first moments, showing solidarity, sincere compassion, and
organization. People queued up to donate blood. Many of our compatriots laid
flowers at the building of Azerbaijan’s Embassy. This response was widely
covered by both domestic and foreign media. The whole world witnessed the
selfless work of our rescuers, doctors, and volunteers. Сitizens of
neighbouring friendly countries – Azerbaijan, Russia and the Kyrgyz Republic –
expressed their special gratitude,» Tokayev said.
Kazakh President convenes meeting regarding plane crash near
Aktau
Tokayev has instructed the Government Commission to provide all
necessary medical and psychological support for the victims and to pay special
attention to the families of deceased Kazakh citizens. He emphasized the
importance of a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident and
tasked government agencies with assessing aviation security nationwide. In
recognition of their bravery and professionalism in rescuing passengers from
the Azerbaijani airline Azal, Tokayev awarded honors to a large group of Kazakh
citizens. This group includes employees of the Ministry of Emergency
Situations, medical personnel, police officers, and staff from the Mangystau
Regional Electricity Network Company and Aktau International Airport.
