Kazakhstan has attracted 135.5 billion tenge through the
Islamic Development Bank to implement 24 projects aimed at restoring irrigation
facilities in the Turkistan region. Governor Nuralkhan Kusherov reported to
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on future plans and the region’s socio-economic
development in 2024. According to Kusherov, special attention in the
agricultural sector is being given to the development of corn, meat, and cotton
clusters. As part of the cotton cluster, five projects worth 197 billion tenge
will be implemented. Additionally, construction has begun on a starch and syrup
plant, and Australian expertise is being adopted to enhance livestock farming.
Six projects are planned to address the energy deficit. The Head of State
instructed the new governor to maintain close cooperation with the government
to ensure the effective implementation of tasks outlined in the recently signed
law on the special status of Turkistan. President Tokayev also set a number of
tasks for improving citizens' quality of life and developing tourism,
agriculture, and small businesses.
