The memory of Kazakh soldiers was honored in Belgium. In the
lead-up to the 80th anniversary of Victory, representatives of the Kazakh
embassy laid flowers at the burial site of soldiers in the city of Genk. The
remains of two Kazakh citizens, Nuradin Bissenov and Togaibai Ualiyev, rest at
the memorial cemetery. Both died heroically in the spring of 1944. Participants
in the ceremony emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of those who
gave their lives for Victory.
«We must never forget that war. It claimed the lives of more
than 27 million people, affecting every family and the entire nation. In
Belgium, 10 Kazakh soldiers who died heroically at the front are buried in the
memorial cemetery. We will continue our efforts to confirm their names and
search for their relatives. This is our primary responsibility and sacred duty,»
said Almas Nurgaliyev, Deputy Military Representative of the Kazakh Defense
Ministry to NATO Headquarters.
