Fundamentally new approaches and
modern technologies would quickly and effectively modernize the education
system, which should be aligned with the best international standards, Kazakh
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during the opening of the National
Congress of Teachers in Astana. The Head of State extended congratulations to
the congress participants on the Teacher’s Day, highlighting the event’s
significance and calling a teacher as the nexus in the process of shaping the
nation’s new quality. In this regard, it is important to train qualified professionals,
he stated.
“Over the past three years, about
220 teachers have been trained abroad under the Bolashak Scholarship Program. The
criteria for students pursuing teaching specialties have become more stringent,
whereas their bursaries increased by 2.5 times. In a word, the training of highly
qualified teachers remains a priority,” he noted.
In his speech, President Tokayev
touched upon school safety issues, digital solutions development, and the
involvement of entrepreneurs in building new educational institutions.
According to the Head of State, along with quality education, it is also
necessary to focus on moral education of students. He placed an emphasis on
rural education, noting that schools in villages should evolve into
intellectual and social hubs. President Tokayev instructed the provision of
essential equipment for at least 1,000 of these schools within the next three
years.
“Kazakhstan is implementing the
Comfortable School project under my initiative. In the next two years, hundreds
of educational institutions will be built across the country, including rural
areas. This will allow to get rid of three-shift education forever,” he
emphasized.
During the meeting, teachers
representing educational facilities in Astana and several regions of the
country made proposals on the education advancement. In conclusion, the Head of
State bestowed the “Honored Teacher” title upon a number of educators for their
outstanding achievements in education and significant contribution to Kazakhstan’s
progress.
