Kazakhstan will send more than three million munitions to Tajikistan. The Ministry of Defense has drawn up an agreement between the two governments on the provision of gratis military-technical assistance. According to the ministry, Tajikistan requested assistance in connection with the deteriorating situation in the Tajik-Afghan border region back in December 2019. That is, before the border disputes between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan escalated. Moreover, a similar agreement has been signed with Kyrgyzstan. There is an agreement that military-technical assistance should not be used by these countries in resolving border disputes.
“The provision of military-technical assistance to these countries has no intention of contributing to the development of border disputes between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. These agreements were signed in the light of the planned withdrawal from Afghanistan of the military contingent of the international coalition countries. In addition, the delivery of military equipment to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will not take place until they have reached agreements to resolve existing contradictions and normalize the situation,” said Olzhas Khussainov, Head of International Cooperation Department, Kazakh Ministry of Defense.
