The production of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Kazakhstan is growing steadily. This year it increased by almost 30 percent compared to the nine-month period of 2021. Moreover, it is 2.4 times bigger now than before the COVID-19 crisis. The sales indicators for January-September increased by 68 percent compared to the same period in 2019. Industry experts attribute this to the growth in the production and share of domestic cars in sales. Meanwhile, the situation in the global automotive industry is different. For example, in the U.S., car sales decreased by 20 percent compared to the same period in 2019. In Japan, it declined by 24.5 percent, and in the countries of Western Europe by 32 percent. In neighbouring Russia, the sales dropped by 60 percent.
