Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The parties discussed the prospects for the development of an expanded strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the EU. In particular, they touched upon the implementation of joint projects in the energy, transport and logistics industries.
The Head of State also met with Charles Michel, the President of the European Council. The parties discussed prospects for strengthening strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the European Union, drawing special attention to the development of political dialogue and expanding trade and economic cooperation.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s working visit to New York ended with talks with the UN Secretary-General. The Head of State expressed his full support for the initiative of Antonio Guterres to convene the Summit of the Future. President Tokayev expressed hope that the results of this important event will contribute to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The parties also discussed the progress of implementation of the initiative of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to create the UN Hub for SDGs for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.
Overall, during his working visit to New York, the Kazakh President held 27 meetings and participated in three major events.
