A total of 56,000
people from across Kazakhstan joined the World Cleanup Day environmental
campaign. Volunteers, representatives from various public organizations,
government agencies, and businesses participated in cleanup activities,
collecting waste on the territory of over 10,000 hectares. The initiative
contributes to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals,
according to the organizers, including the European Union Delegation to
Kazakhstan and the UN Resident Coordinator's Office. It bears noting that
presently, Kazakhstan actively supports international environmental movements.
Activities to promote environmental responsibility are regularly conducted, particularly,
in cooperation with foreign diplomatic missions.
“We are working in
many areas with Kazakhstan. On water management, on renewable energies exactly,
on recycling, on technologies, that would be environmentally friendly. And the
EU is introducing CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) and we need to work
together with Kazakhstan. So, Kazakhstan is fully prepared,” said Deputy Head
of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan Maciej Adam Madalinski.
