From logistics hubs to high-tech factories in the fields of
energy, agriculture, medicine, tourism, and IT - more than 125 investment
projects are set to be implemented in Kazakhstan's capital by 2035 under the
updated master plan. According to the plan’s developers, these new enterprises
will give momentum to the development of the industrial zone, increase the
share of the real sector in the capital’s economy, and contribute to a
sustainable, technology-driven future for the metropolis. As for the key priorities,
the city plans to build more than 230 kilometres of high-speed public transit
routes to improve transport accessibility. In the coming years, the first 102
kilometres are expected to be put into operation, with priority given to buses
and the LRT. Currently, about 40% of Astana residents use public transport, a
figure projected to rise to 71% by 2035.
«Our public transport framework is aimed at ensuring
uninterrupted routes, making public transit faster and more comfortable than
traditional modes of transportation such as cars, taxis, and others. Under the
new master plan, the comfort of city residents using public transport is a top
priority. We also fully understand the importance of cycling infrastructure for
the city. Continuous bike lanes will be reviewed and adjusted in accordance
with the master plan,» said Marat Saduov, Deputy General Director of the
research and design institute Astanagenplan.
Additionally, 750 new courtyards and public spaces will be
created in the city, including the Mynzhyldyk linear park and the Green Line
pedestrian boulevard. Green space throughout the city will also be expanded.
