A unique fusion of Kazakh traditional dance and classical
ballet elements was showcased at the premiere of the Nomad Inspiration program
at the Astana Opera theatre. Choreographic works by Sultanbek Gumar, Astana
Opera’s ballet soloist and choreographer, graced the stage, complemented by the
musical pieces of the HasSak ethno-folk group. The audience enjoyed a diverse
repertoire of previously unheard musical masterpieces. The group performed both
solo and alongside the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra, creating a distinct
blend of national and classical sounds. The nomadic spirit was also brought to
life through costumes and stage designs specifically created for the project,
with each artistic element reflecting the rich culture and history of the Great
Steppe.
«Today, our theater hosted the premiere of the ballet
productions «Aralym», «Alem», and «Toibastar». We had previously collaborated
with the HasSak ethno-folk group. For their piece «Amanat», I choreographed the
dance «Rukh». The audience warmly greeted the artists and saw them off with
enthusiastic applause,» said Gumar. «In response to the requests of our
sophisticated audience, we decided to present this unique collaborative
creative project on our stage this time.»
«It is very important to develop the national theme now,
while also involving young choreographers and talented musicians. A young
choreographer is emerging in Kazakhstan, someone on whom I personally place
high hopes. He is talented, with a keen eye, great taste, and excellent
movement skills. He brings fresh ideas. This is a very exciting project, and I
believe it is a significant milestone for Astana Opera,» said Altynai
Assylmuratova, the artistic director of the Astana Opera Ballet Company.
