The lights of the New Year tree
in the city of Astana were lit at the celebrations for gifted and talented
children of Kazakhstan. A total of 100 school students from across the country
were invited to attend the festive event at the Astana Opera Theater, organized
on Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s behalf. 400 artists representing
the country’s best creative teams and Kazakh pop stars created a fabulous
atmosphere for the children, while the Astana Opera soloists presented a New
Year’s performance. On behalf of the Head of State, the young guests received congratulatory
cards and New Year’s gifts.
“As part of a special program,
children who have excelled in academics, arts and sports were invited to
Astana. They have been in the capital for three days, visiting the main
attractions of the city. Today, they are taking part in the New Year
celebrations. Each of the 100 children received memorable gifts such as a
backpack containing a tablet, a set of encyclopedias and sweets, on behalf of
the Head of State,” said Meruert Medetbekova, Spokesperson for the Kazakh
Ministry of Education.
