New oil export berth commissioned in Turkmenistan

A new marine berth at the Kenar terminal has opened in Turkmenistan. It has an annual capacity of over two million tonnes for shipment and more than one million tonnes for receiving oil and petroleum products. Notably, this strategic facility is part of the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries. The new pier complies with modern requirements and is capable of accommodating two tankers simultaneously. It significantly boosts the Central Asian country’s export potential, ensures the continuity and safety of logistics operations, expands the range of transit services, and enhances the country’s investment appeal. The facility is expected to play an important role during the upcoming international economic forum of landlocked countries, which will be held in Turkmenistan in August.

«The design and construction of this facility involved the use of the most advanced and cutting-edge technologies. In particular, specialized equipment and software were employed for the automated control system,» said Dmitry Gogol, Director of the Petro Gas LLP Turkmenistan branch.

«The commissioning of the new berth will ensure the uninterrupted and safe shipment of petroleum products abroad via the existing berths 1 and 2, enable their phased modernization, increase the throughput capacity of the loading berths, allow for the provision of transit transportation services, and generate additional revenue,» noted Amangeldy Berdyev, process engineer of the Turkmennebit State Concern.

«The commissioning of this technological facility is of key importance, as it will help accelerate the logistics of imported petroleum products by minimizing losses and will reliably ensure export deliveries to international markets,» said Allayar Mammetorazov, operator of the oil storage and loading pump manufacturing plant.
