The new terminal of the Korkyt Ata airport was opened in
Kyzylorda. The implementation of this infrastructure project will enable the
launch of additional flight routes, including international ones, and will double
the transit potential, as well as passenger and cargo traffic. As emphasized by
Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov at the opening, the terminal is capable
of increasing the airport’s capacity sevenfold, from 300,000 to two million
passengers per year. This will positively impact the development of domestic
tourism, trade, and the economy as a whole. The terminal meets the standards of
the International Air Transport Association and the International Civil
Aviation Organization. It is equipped with telescopic jet bridges, an automated
baggage handling system, and other advanced technologies.
«A comfortable, modern terminal was built in nearly two
years. At present, on the initiative of the Head of State, domestic businesses,
based on a model of social responsibility, are actively participating in the
construction of major facilities across the country’s regions. This project is
a good example of such public-private partnership. I am confident that the new
terminal will contribute to the development of the Kyzylorda region,» Bektenov
said.
«The total area of the new terminal at Korkyt Ata Airport is
7,500 square meters, three times larger than the existing one. This summer, a
direct flight from Kyzylorda to Antalya was launched, and flights on this route
will continue next year. The new terminal has a capacity of up to 250
passengers per hour, with all necessary facilities provided. Currently, 26
flights operate weekly,» said Bayan Azhmoldayev, Chairman of the Board of Korkyt
Ata Airport.
