Iran’s foreign policy course will remain
unchanged despite the deaths of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. The current leadership of the country intends
to adhere to this course, as stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Mahdi Safari in
an exclusive interview with Silk Way TV channel, a part of the TV and Radio Complex
of the President of Kazakhstan. Safari has recently participated in a meeting
of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the SCO member states, thereby
confirming Iran’s desire to remain a partner for Kazakhstan and other member
states of this international integration. The Islamic Republic of Iran advocates
for the expansion of not only political but also trade relations, especially
given the country’s favorable geographical location.
“I believe that our bilateral relations hold a
strategic importance. In particular, we aim to enhance our economic
cooperation and transit potential. Thus, we are cooperating with Kazakhstan,
Turkmenistan, and other states to facilitate the transit of goods to Iran,
Europe, the Persian Gulf region, and the Gulf of Oman. This is a good point for
expanding transportation to India and Central Asia, as well as vice versa,” said
Mahdi Safari.
