Nazarbayev University simplifies admission requirements

Education at Nazarbayev University (NU) will become accessible to a greater number of applicants. Admission to the university is now available on a fee-paying basis, with updated and more flexible requirements. A high school graduate must have a GPA of 3.5 out of 5.0 for the Foundation program, and 4.0 for the bachelor’s degree program. For the first time, Unified National Test (UNT) scores, when taken in English, are also accepted for admission to the university. A minimum UNT score for the Foundation program is 75, while for the undergraduate program, it is 85. The minimum IELTS scores are 5.5 and 6.0, respectively.

«The current new entry requirements that we are establishing are international practice, we are following the top standards, and we know that we will bring even a broader number of talented Kazakh students to the university. The plan is to continue improving gradually to become one of the top 300 universities in the very near time,» said Luis Ramon Rojas-Solórzano, Associate Provost for Graduate Studies at NU.

The best university in Central Asia is enhancing its educational programs and expanding its offerings. New fields of study have appeared in the Schools of Business, Public Policy, and Medicine. Notably, students pursuing a dual diploma in medicine can now complete their studies in just six years instead of eight.

«We are also including new educational programs, such as robotics, computer science, and IT. Our computer science program is currently the most popular, with a large number of students enrolling. It is truly a high-quality program that shows results,» noted Assel Uvaliyeva, Vice President of Nazarbayev University.

The results of studying at the university are evident in the figures, with a 98 percent graduate employment rate. At present, NU graduates with bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees are in demand at top international and domestic companies. The university also aims to attract foreign students from Central Asian countries. Applications for the next academic year are already open.
