A National Product Catalogue will be introduced in
Kazakhstan. This unified information resource will enable tracking a product’s
journey from production or import to final sale. The prospects for digital
transformation of trade were discussed at a government meeting. At the
instruction of Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, the catalogue will begin to be
used by manufacturers, distributors, and retailers starting mid-August. The
digital database, available in Kazakh and Russian, will contain comprehensive
information on all goods subject to labeling. Meanwhile, the list of products
requiring labeling is being expanded. By the end of 2025, labeling will become
mandatory for motor oils, and starting in 2026 for light industry products,
jewelry, and dietary supplements. Bektenov also emphasized the importance of
launching an agromarketplace and a traceability system, which are expected to
stimulate economic activity in rural areas.
«In this regard, I instruct the Ministry of Trade and
Integration to ensure coordination between the relevant government agencies and
regional authorities, the Ministry of Agriculture to develop mechanisms by year-end
to encourage agricultural producers to operate through the agro-marketplace. As
part of foreign trade activities, businesses must be supported in automating import
processes, ensuring transaction transparency, and certification. I also
instruct the Ministry of Trade, together with KazPost, to launch a pilot B2B
e-commerce platform by year-end,» Bektenov said.
