Over 20,000 Kazakh families
affected by the flooding received state support. Around 7.5 billion tenge was
allocated to provide one-time payments, according to the Kazakh government’s
press service. On the instructions of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the work
on damage compensation is currently carried out and is under strict control of
the government. Thus, 130 families have received houses and apartments to replace
destroyed housing. Construction of 239 new houses is underway in four regions,
including in the Aktobe, Kostanai, Pavlodar, and North Kazakhstan regions.
Compensation totaling more than 710 million tenge was also provided for housing
repair and restoration. Almost 10,000 houses have been surveyed in the affected
regions, with assessments already completed for 7,500 of them.
