Kazakhstan is testing a modernized fill dam preparing for
the flood season. In the Kostanai region, an artificial structure has been
installed to protect against flooding, strengthen the soil, and prevent
erosion. The modular barrier is a metal cancellated structure filled with
natural materials such as stone, gravel, or sand. It is quickly assembled and
can be installed in hard-to-reach areas. The height of the dam is two meters,
but it can be increased if necessary by stacking the modules on top of each
other. During the beta-testing, specialists studied all the features of the
technology to assess its feasibility for protecting settlements from floods.
