Modern bridge across Irtysh River under construction in Pavlodar

A new bridge across the Irtysh River is being built in Pavlodar. Stretching nearly 700 meters, the bridge will feature four traffic lanes—two in each direction—a safety lane separating traffic flows, and pedestrian zones. The project has been classified as first-category, meaning there are no similar structures in the country. The use of a unique cable-stayed system ensures even weight distribution across the entire span and helps regulate the river’s flow speed. Currently, the installation of bored piles for the river piers is nearing completion. The new bridge will serve as a key link, connecting the left-bank section of the national road with the right-bank section, and will contribute to the development of the country’s transit and transport potential.

«The challenges at the site are primarily related to working in the water and on the river. The depth of the Irtysh here reaches up to eight meters, so we are using a technology that involves the installation of bored piles for the riverbed piers, as well as work from above-water platforms. We plan to complete all work in the riverbed for the installation of bored piles before the spring rise in water levels. After the spring flood, we will proceed with further work on installing the intermediate supports,» said project manager Nurmukhammed Beissembayev.
